A possible remedy for depression can be Ketamine

Ketamine, the substance used for tranchilizarea horses, but also an extremely powerful painkiller, could be an instant remedy for those suffering from severe depression.
Doctors at Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston, Texas, tested the effects of ketamine on people suffering from a severe form of depression. They say that this substance, which has the ability to numb the senses through a dissociative state of anesthesia, can overcome depression.
The current treatment is used for depression starts to work within weeks, during which patients recorded suicidal tendencies. Ketamine, however, starts to work immediately after administration.

Cosmetics could cause breast cancer

Recommendation is made by specialists in the UK, who argue that prolonged use could result if parabens to breast cancer ladies. The British established after tests, a possible link between these chemicals and disease. In response, we send our doctors do not have to worry about. "The link between parabens and breast cancer remains that parabens have a similar action to that of the female hormone estrogen.
It is known that exposure to estrogen is a risk factor for breast cancer, "says Dr. Philippa Darbre, study author.
With these words, but with dozens of tests over time, experts from Reading University in Britain bring back the discussion possible link between parabens, these chemicals used as preservatives in personal care products and breast cancer.Of 160 samples of tissue taken from women who have had breast cancer, in 99% of cases, researchers have discovered at least one parabens in tissue taken and in 60% of cases were discovered five parabens
But we find these chemicals? Currently it is estimated that 80% of cosmetics containing parabens from creams to hair dye.

Alcohol - slow and safe destruction

Reduces ability to concentrate, ability to drive or to speak coherently - they are effects of alcohol abuse that everybody knows. But recent studies have revealed a much worse result.
Researchers at the University of Massachusetts have shown that alcohol reduces the body's ability to fight viral infections.
The same study showed that people who have made a daily habit of drinking alcohol will recover much more difficult after various injuries, including burns.
That's because monocytes, white blood cells fight infection, if not act normal steady consumption of alcohol.

Women less likely to suffer from depression

A U.S. study, involving 50,000 nurses found that women who consume two or more cups of coffee a day were less likely to suffer from depression.
Caffeine is the element scientists suspected as the source of this positive effect, as decaffeinated coffee has anti-depressant same results.
Team of researchers from Harvard Medical School followed 50,000 nurses over 10 years, between 1996 and 2006. Of these, approximately 2,600 women started to suffer from depression during the period studied. Most people who have been affected by depression or did not drink coffee at all or drank small quantities.
The study found women who drank 2-3 cups of coffee per day had a 15% risk
than to suffer from depression compared with those who drank a cup of coffee a week. The most encouraging result was that obtained in women who drank four cups of coffee per day, the risk of suffering from depression were 20% lower!

A new study of a substance that kills cancer

A study by researchers at the University of Bradford, UK, herbal remedies recalls scientists. A substance extracted from turmeric was shown to have great effect in destroying cancerous tumors
Tests have been made so far only in mice, and results will be published next day, the British Science Festival. Experiments on humans will begin only after 18 months and the drug will be launched, probably over 6-7 years.
But scientists are very optimistic, because half of the subjects injected with a single dose had positive reactions, tumors disappeared completely, while healthy organs and tissues were not affected.

Substance contained in saffron is very toxic, so it is very effective. Scientists have managed to isolate the toxin, becoming active only when reaching the tumor, which destroys, preventing it longer feed.

Gesture due to which 80% chances to make cancer

Smokers will light a cigarette in the first 30 minutes after waking up? If so, is very bad. Know, that will increase the risk of lung cancer, nearly 80 percent. At least that warns a study by British researchers.
Those who do not leave very much risk. This behavior brings smokers closer to cancer, says study just done by researchers in the UK.
According to them, those who smoke within 30 minutes after waking are 79% more likely to develop lung cancer than those who delay smoking the first cigarette at least one hour after awakening.

This is how flags of pneumology wards are full.
Nicotine delivered by tobacco smoke, reaching six to seven seconds to the brain, which cause the secretion of substances among which dopamine that activates a network of neurons responsible for producing state of satisfaction.

Noise adversely affects heart

Those who work in areas with high levels of noise present, after only a year and a half, an increased risk of heart disease, a study in North America.
A researcher at the University of British Columbia, Canada, analyzed data from a study involving, between 1999-2004, over 6,000 U.S. citizens and found that there is a correlation between increased semnficativa noise at work and risk heart disease.

Most study participants were men aged over 40, whose lifestyles have other characteristics which predispose to the occurrence of heart problems (excess weight, smoking).

Study on dogs paws

Japanese researchers have managed to resolve an issue that has long concerned the zoologists in several countries: namely, how dogs sit on ice for extended periods of time without their feet and toes freeze.
Researchers Yamazaki Gakuen University in Tokyo have discovered that dogs feet and toes are provided with a network of glands that removes a very high fat secretion, preventing frostbite.

If people are exposed to very cold, vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the extremities of the body reduces the blood flow in those areas.

The team led by Dr. Hiroyoshi Ninomya used a scanner attached to an electron microscope study of 4 dogs mature feet. Scientists have discovered that the arteries that send blood to the feet of dogs are coupled with a network of small veins, the whole system acting as a heat exchanger., Serving to cool heat coming from the feet before sending back the body.

Destruction of bacteria proteins tears

A new study by researchers at the University of Irvine, California tried to discover how a protein localized in human tears and involved in immune defense can kill bacteria.
Researchers believe that this study may be crucial for long-term activity designed to diagnose cancer in its early stages.
Even a century ago, when Alexander Fleming, Nobel laureate, discovered that human tears contain proteins called lysozyme antiseptic, scientists tried to find out if they could neutralize bigger and more virulent bacteria.
It was found that lysozyme molecules have a kind of "Jaws" that catch and chew rows of cells in a similar way a man eats a corn. Through this process, the protein walls destroys bacteria trying to enter the eye and infect them.

Drug against unpleasant memories

In a famous movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), a man and a woman were submitted for erasing unpleasant memories of their relationship. The idea could soon become reality.
Scientists announce that there will be no more than 10 years on the market a miracle pill that will help us get rid of unpleasant memories.
Thus, the traumatic events that will live remains a vague memory, removed.
The product will especially address those fears and those who have experienced trauma such as a car accident.
The announcement comes after more research specialists conducted at Leicester University, after which they learned how the brain behaves in stressful situations.

Tomatoes, other than we know we

Horticultorii Israelis have created a kind of tomato red interior, but with very dark skin color, which darkens as tomatoes ripen in the sun.
The researchers crossed wild varieties cultivated varieties of tomato, resulting in a new variety with striking aspect in color almost black fruit (botanically speaking, what we call "red" are fruits of the plant).
Variety of "black red" was called Black Galaxy. Dark pigment - which is akin to that of blueberries - is photosensitive, so color is even darker as the tomato haulm left more on the sun.
The antioxidant properties of red tomatoes have all the usual varieties, scientists believe it could be even richer in antioxidants and vitamin C, found in high concentrations in the dark pigment.
Producing company, Technological Seeds will present its new creation an exhibition specialized R & D Arava Agricultural Exhibition, and Galaxy Black tomatoes could enter the market next year.

O pill that can speed bone healing

A revolutionary material created by U.S. researchers, could accelerate fracture healing, shorten the process from several months to several days.
Scientists at the University of Georgia, USA, used celuele stem to produce a protein involved in bone regeneration.
They incirporat prioteina in a gel, obtaining a material which they named "clay fracture" and have tested on laboratory rats, stabilizing fractures and introducing a small amount of material at fracture.
After two weeks, the animals could use their feet without any problem.
Currently, "plasticine fracture" is tested on larger animals such as pigs and sheep.

Positive people can do much more than we thought

A new study by Swiss researchers demonstrated in a practical and effective power of positive thinking. According to the results, subjects who claimed and were convinced that they feel good, are healthy and everything going for them finally enjoyed a longer life and better health than pessimistic people.
The researchers took into account risk factors that affect life expectancy such as smoking, alcoholism, chronic diseases and hypertension. 7 During the decade of the century, a sample of 8,000 people has undergone positive thinking experiment.
Thirty years later, the volunteers were diagnosed again and surprised the researchers found that people who think positively about their general health status have lived longer than pessimistic.

"Our study demonstrates once again that people who are viewed as having excellent health come to live longer than others. Decisive factors in this process include a positive attitude, an optimistic estimate of the surrounding reality and a state of complacency about personal life, "said David Fah, researcher at the University of Zurich.
According to data submitted at the end of the study, men who believed that their health is mainly negative, were 3.3 times less likely to survive than those who maintain that they enjoyed good health. For women, those with negative thinking had a 1.9 times higher risk of dying than those who rank themselves positively.
Despite these results, some experts are not convinced of the power of positive thinking for long-term health maintenance.

Researchers have discovered a new adverse effect of smoking

Researchers have identified a new negative effect of smoking. A study published in the journal Archives of General Psychiatry shows that smoking accelerates cognitive decline rate recorded among middle-aged men.
Scientists estimate that a typical smoker aged 50 years declining mental capacity is similar to that found among non-smokers by 10 years older. This acceleration of cognitive decline persists even after being taken into account such factors as education level and health.
Leader of the study, Séverine sword at University College London, commented: "Although know that smoking is a risk factor regarding lung diseases, cancer and cardiovascular diseases, our research has shown that it has a negative effect on cognitive aging. This effect can be observed from the age of 45 years ".
The effect is not limited to people who smoke many cigarettes. "Men who smoke often had similar negative effects as those who smoke often," Sword said, adding that "this shows the importance of abandoning this vice."
To the surprise of researchers, women have been given the same cognitive decline among men studied.
The study was conducted on 7,236 UK civil servants over a period of 25 years.
Researchers have identified an encouraging result: men who had left smoking for more than 10 years had not accelerated cognitive decline, with results similar to men who never had smoked.
"So everyone quit smoking reduce the risk of accelerated brain aging victim of this," said Joseph Quinn, a neuroscientist at Oregon Health and Science University.

Love is determined by the brain, so say researchers

Love takes hold only our minds but also our bodies. When you're heart rate goes crazy in love, we feel that we have a "knot in the stomach", and mood changes from one second to another.
Now comes a new study to demonstrate that all these symptoms are caused by the brain. The study by American scientists used MRI imaging to monitor the brains of 10 women and 7 men who declared themselves "deeply lover. All participants were involved in relationships whose duration varied from one month to two years.
When the participants were shown pictures of a loved one were found in the brain and emotional responses were recorded in an area involved in motivation and reward. Experts explained that the intense and passionate love using the same system in the brain that is activated when drug addiction.

A new study says that sound phone affects our brains

Next time you hear the dial tone of a phone nearby, think that you can affect the brain. A new study claims that ringtones distract us, reducing our ability to remember information and to focus until the phone stops ringing.
To monitor the effects they have on our ringing, researchers at Washington University in St. Louis, USA, conducted a study was divided into two stages.
To begin, first test was conducted on a group of students who were asked to quickly identify a set of objects that appeared for a moment on a computer monitor. Meanwhile, a phone call several times. Sometimes his tone was a standard call, sometimes, to hear a song known. Every time the phone rings, scientists have observed that reaction rate of students decrease. However, when he heard a standard tone, volunteers regained their attention more quickly than when the phone was a known song.

Salt to break the sound barrier

An Austrian daredevil 42-year-old intends to make a parachute jump record to become the first person in history to break the sound barrier without a vehicle.
Felix Baumgartner jumps from a height of 36.5 km above the ground, so the speed that will head to the ground will enable Austrian to achieve this record. Baumgartner will reach that altitude with a capsule carried by a balloon.
Engineers estimated that 35 seconds of the jump, Baumgartner will beat the sound barrier.
A key element of this test is the suit you wear Baumgartner. Similarly costume worn by astronauts, it will maintain pressure at a constant level, while being equipped with a tube of oxygen. Unlike astronaut costume, worn at Baumgartner to be stronger and also more mobile.
Engineers tested the suit in a pressurized capsule, which attempted to reproduce the conditions that Austrian will meet during a dive. Thus, the suit must protect him from temperatures of -70 degrees Celsius, whilst resisting the extreme forces created when breaking the sound barrier.
Baumgartner is not the first spectacular career leap, jumping before the statue of Christ Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Also, in 2003 Baumgartner became the first man to do skydiving over the English Channel.
If Baumgartner's attempt will be successful, his jump will exceed the record set in 1960 by Joe Kittinger, who jumped out of a balloon 31 kilometers above the Earth.
