Salt to break the sound barrier

An Austrian daredevil 42-year-old intends to make a parachute jump record to become the first person in history to break the sound barrier without a vehicle.
Felix Baumgartner jumps from a height of 36.5 km above the ground, so the speed that will head to the ground will enable Austrian to achieve this record. Baumgartner will reach that altitude with a capsule carried by a balloon.
Engineers estimated that 35 seconds of the jump, Baumgartner will beat the sound barrier.
A key element of this test is the suit you wear Baumgartner. Similarly costume worn by astronauts, it will maintain pressure at a constant level, while being equipped with a tube of oxygen. Unlike astronaut costume, worn at Baumgartner to be stronger and also more mobile.

Engineers tested the suit in a pressurized capsule, which attempted to reproduce the conditions that Austrian will meet during a dive. Thus, the suit must protect him from temperatures of -70 degrees Celsius, whilst resisting the extreme forces created when breaking the sound barrier.
Baumgartner is not the first spectacular career leap, jumping before the statue of Christ Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Also, in 2003 Baumgartner became the first man to do skydiving over the English Channel.
If Baumgartner's attempt will be successful, his jump will exceed the record set in 1960 by Joe Kittinger, who jumped out of a balloon 31 kilometers above the Earth.

A webcam was installed near Mount Everest

German company Mobotix has set a new record, placing a webcam in the Himalayas to film the highest peak on Earth - Mount Everest. The room was located on Mount Kala Patthar, at an altitude of 5643 meters, where transmit HD images Mount Everest, which rises to 8848 meters.

Kala Patthar camera installed on webcam is located at the highest altitude, surpassing the record set by the camera located on top of Aconcagua in Argentina, located at 4389 meters altitude.
The webcam is solar powered and is designed to withstand harsh conditions on the top of Kala Patthar, where temperatures can reach values ​​of -30 degrees Celsius.
Camera operates between 6 am and 6 pm local time, images are updating every 5 minutes. Sequences captured by webcam will be used along with data recorded by the weather station on Mount Everest in a project studying climate change.
